WALTER R. SMITH
Walter R. Smith, 51, long time general store proprietor in West Arlington, died July 4 at his home. His last illness had been comparatively brief, but he had been in frail health for some years.
Born in Arlington March 23, 1902, he was the son of Arthur and Hannah Steele Smith. During his long residence in the area, he had come to be well-known not only by those who lived in the country but by many travelers, many of whom were fishermen or hunters.
He leaves his wife, the former Florence Pope, and one son, Raymond Smith of West Arlington; several cousins are also left.
The funeral was held today at 2 p.m. from his late home. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Arlington.
