Monday afternoon, April 1, in the midst of a blinding snowstorm, Rev. J.R. Crawford, pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian church at Clinton, conducted funeral services at his father's home for John Stephen Casey, second son of George M. and Lucy C. Casey of Henry county. He was born in April, 1866 at his father's farm in Shawnee township and was 35. He attended the state university and Kemper military school, where he graduated with distinction and honor. His body was brought to the old home he loved so well, by his sorrowing wife and little daughter; his brother, Rolla Casey of San Angelo; his sisters, Mrs. Edgar Hughes, Mrs. Rich Wood and Mrs. Dena Brooks, all of Hillsboro. The Knights Templar rode out from Clinton on horseback, in their uniforms, and assisted with the solemn and impressive ceremonies.
