Mrs. Sprung, nee Yannetye Schenck, died at age 64 during the third year of the American Revolutionary War. Her brown sandstone stele, inscribed in Dutch, features a shallowly incised, winged soul effigy in its tympanum. The daughter of Stephen Janse Schenck and the former Antie Wickoff, she had resided with her husband, Folkert (aka Volkert), in Hubbard's Lane in Flatlands. He survived her by 29 years, and after his death at age 90, was buried beside her. (His gravestone, which was broken off at its base at some point, is embedded in the ground, leaving hers standing alone.)
