Mr. Mitchell James ''Jim'' Bowen Jr., 75, died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at Tattnall Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Elza Baptist Church. Burial will be in Wilds Family Cemetery.

Mr. Bowen, a native of Tattnall County, was a retired piano and organ salesman. He was a member of Elza Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He served in the Marines during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Ann W. Bowen; four sons, Ed Bowen, Hawaii, Adrian Bowen, Augusta, Zack Bowen, Manassas, Va., and Mitchell Bowen, Reidsville; four daughters, Mikki Smith, Many, La., Patricia Carpenter, Augusta, Debra Herrington and June Rush, both of Reidsville; three sisters, Georgia Ritt, Hobe Sound, Fla., Ramona Morum and Beverly Senn, both of Orlando, Fla.; and 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Elza Baptist Church Building Fund.

McCall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
