Alvin W. Bauermeister, 88, of DeKalb, Ill., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb.
Born June 14, 1919, in Chicago, he was the son of Walter and Minnie (Josephski) Bauermeister. He married Avleen Joan Stokes on Nov. 25, 1944, in Australia.
He was the owner and operator for more than 30 years of Suburban Small Engine Repair in Palatine where he made many friends. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in DeKalb, the Moose Club and the Cook-DuPage Beekeepers Association.
He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Lee of DeKalb and Carol Olsen of Palatine, and four grandchildren, Jennifer, Robert, Sarah and Lisa.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Avleen, and a sister, Lois Glonke.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in DeKalb, with the Rev. Gary Erickson officiating. Interment of cremated remains will be at Afton Township Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church.
