W. A. Borland was the third son of W. W. and Anna Borland born at Sterling, Nebraska. He married Sarah. M Clineburg on April 26, 1899, At the age of 13 he started to learn the printers trade in the office of the Sterling Sun. He later became a partner in the ownership of that paper.
His son, Harold Glen "Hal" was a student at the U. of Colo. at the time this picture was taken. He later wrote for the New York Times and he wrote many books, including several best sellers. Will was publisher of the newspaper at Flagler, Colo.
