Martha Phayon "Fay" Balch, daughter of the late George and Grace (Eiland) Harvey, was born September 19, 1929 in Newport, Arkansas.

She departed this life the morning of June 1, 2005 in the Lake Ozark General Hospital of Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of 75 years, 8 months and 13 days.

Fay graduated from high school in Sikeston, Missouri.

On November 5, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri, Fay was united in marriage with Arthur Balch, and to this union, one son, Arthur, Jr. and one daughter, Sharon, were born. Arthur preceded Fay in death in 1993. Their daughter, Sharon also preceded them in death.

In 1956, Fay opened "Fay's Tattoo Shop" in St. Louis. She and Arthur moved to Pulaski County in 1957, where she opened her shop in St. Robert and ran her business for over 40 years.

Fay will be greatly missed by one son: Arthur Balch, Jr. and his wife, Linda of Roach, Missouri; three sisters: Thelma Black and Velma Mortellaro, both of St. Louis, Missouri and Wilda Jones of Ironton, Missouri; one sister-in-law: Carolyn Montgomery of St. Louis, Missouri; three grandchildren: Edward Balch, Lee Allen George and Charity Cummings; ten great grandchildren: Gage, Mercedes and Madison Balch, Celeste and Lance George and Brittany, Courtney, Casey, Logan and Dylan Cummings along with several other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 4, 2005 in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. Danny Graves officiating. The songs "Amazing Grace", "The Old Rugged Cross" and "I Won't Have To Cross Jordan Alone" were played. Serving as escorts were Lee Allen George, Jerry Morgan, Edward Balch and Anthony Mortellaro.

Burial followed in the Crocker Memorial Park Cemetery in Crocker, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
