Mrs. A. A. Hazzard of Spring Grove Responded to Death’s Call This Morning
Mrs. A. A. Hazzard, widow of Dennis Hazzard, died at her home 1618 Joplin street in Spring Grove, this morning at 6:45 o’clock, of consumption, from which she had been a sufferer for several years. Although her illness has been of long duration her condition did not become serious until last Saturday and from that time the relatives have entertained no hopes for her recovery.
Her death followed closely on that of her only sister, Mrs. Rebecca Grossman, who died at her home on Tennessee prairie three months ago. Their brother, S. S. Agard, now lies in a precarious condition at the Hazzard home.
The funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Presbyterian church in charge of the Woman's Relief Corps of which the deceased belonged. Interment will be in Galena cemetery.
Mrs. Hazzard was born in the state of New York, April 22, 1836, and moved with her parents overland to Waverly, Ill., at the age of nine years, and resided at that place fifty years. She then moved to this city and has resided twelve years at the home on Joplin street, where she died.
During her residence in Galena she has led an exemplary life and her Christian influence has made her many friends who regret the parting.
She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Mayte Lewis, and one granddaughter, Miss Willa Smith; also three brothers, Police Judge J. A. Agard, Mr. S. S. Agard of this city, and Norman Agard, of Topeka, Kansas.
