She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herman Hodge, her son Ronald Hodge and two brothers, Bob and Joe Mathis.
She is survived by two sons, Luke Hodge and wife Mary of Rolla, MO , and Doug Hodge of Rolla, MO, daughter in law Melinda Burke of Rogersville, MO and one daughter Linda Hodge a traveler, six grandchildren, Angel Roark and husband Phil of Rolla, Chelsie Hodge-Wilson and husband Stephan of Midland, TX, Seth Hodge and wife Kaitlyn of Rolla, and Destiny Hodge of Springfield, several great grandchildren, and a brother, Don Mathis and wife Londa of Flat and many nieces and nephews.
Bertha spent 25 years working for UMR at the TJ Hall where she retired. She was loved by the staff and students who knew her. Bertha loved to cook, bake and spend quality time with her family. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, tatting, embroidery, her vegetable and flower gardening, taking long drives, and Saturday’s finding deals at yard sales which usually involved adding to her frog figurine collection. She was of Christian faith. Bertha will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
A funeral service for Bertha will be held on Friday, July 24th, at 11 am, at the Smith Cemetery in Flat, Missouri.
Directions to cemetery: From Rolla, Missouri take Highway 63 South to County Road 6120 turning right. Turn on CR6130 and stay on this road until you see the old church building and cemetery.
