She was the wife of William Gabriel Burgee, whom she married May 25, 1942, and who died in 1982.
Born Jan. 15, 1913, in Samples Manor, she was the daughter of the late John Hamilton and Margaret Waters Moore.
Mrs. Burgee was a member of Parkway Church of God and taught the Loyal Workers Bible class.
She graduated from Brunswick High School in 1930, Towson State College in 1932, and Shepherd College in 1954, with a bachelor of science degree. She taught English and social studies in Maryland for 35 years at Hughesville in Charles County, Brunswick Elementary School and for 14 years at West Frederick Junior High School. She retired in 1969.
In her retirement years, Mrs. Burgee was involved in volunteer work at Frederick Memorial Hospital and area nursing homes.
Her interests included reading, gardening, crafts, traveling and her grandchildren.
Surviving are one son, Dr. Brent Burgee and wife Terry Ellis Burgee of Randolph, Vt.; three grandchildren, Brooke Ellis Burgee, Bethany Ann Burgee and Tyler Hamilton Burgee, all of Randolph; three nieces, Patricia Snoots, Carol Brown and Gloria Crowl, all of Brunswick; two nephews, Fred Moore and Dennis Moore, both of Brunswick; and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Mrs. Burgee was preceded in death by a brother, Fred A. Moore, in 1964.
Friends may call at Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Home, 1201 N. Market St., Frederick. The family will receive friends 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 7.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at the funeral home, with her pastor, Pastor Howard Ruley of Parkway Community Church, Frederick, officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
The family requests that memorials in Mrs. Burgee's name be made to the American Heart Association, 839 Quince Orchard Blvd., Suite E, Gaithersburg, Md. 20878.
