W. R. Lowry for 27 Years Resident of Island; Funeral by Elks.
W. R. Lowry passed away at his home at Waiohinu, Kau, at 4:30 o'clock Sunday morning; December I4 Mr. Lowry had been somewhat feeble for a year or more. For a time he lived in Honolulu. He came to Waiohinu for his health but failed rapidly until Sunday when the end came.
W. R. Lowry came to the Islands 27 years ago and had been in the employ, of Peacock & Co for 17 years when he took a trip to California for his health.
On July 12,. 1913, Mr. Lowry married Miss Jennie Jones, youngest daughter of the late G. W. C. Jones, who survives him; He leaves also two children, Dorothy Ailene, 4 years old; and Belle Louis, 2 years.
Mr. Lowry was born in San Francisco June 10, 1865. He was educated in the public , schools in that city and attended St. Mary's. College, Santa Clara, the same year with the McInerney brothers .
Funeral services were held yesterday morning at 10 o'clock in the Elks' Lodge Room. There was a large attendance of brother members. Interment was at Homalani Cemetery. The pall bearers were James. Henderson, E. H.. Austin, James Reid, J, W. Stone, W.,H. Barringer, and. D. A. Devine.
Mrs. Long will remain in Hilo with her sister, Mrs. Lulu Carter, for a few weeks.
