He was born in Norwich, the son of Samuel E Pingree and Lydia Steele. He graduated from Hartford school, Norwich University and a graduate of Boston University Law School, was the town clerk for many years, conducted his law office in White River Junction and retired a few years ago. Survivors include two sons, Stuart and Sam. He married Angela Johnson of 1908 at Hartford.
