Jennie was the daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Caledonia Isabella Beazley Keen. She married Dr. Joseph H. Paxton 19 October 1892 in Houston Co, TX. They were the parents of Edwin Paxton, Joe Stokes Paxton, Lurlene Paxton Shotwell, Elinor Paxton, Thomas Keen Paxton, and Florence Pauline Paxton.

OBITUARY: Palestine (TX) Herald-Press, Thursday, 5 January 1956:

Funeral services for Mrs. Joseph H. Paxton, 85, of Elkhart, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Elkhart. Rev. U. Van Sickles, Rev. Hub Turner and Rev. A. W. Ludlow will conduct the final rites and burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart.
Mrs. Paxton, the former Miss Jennie M. Keen, was born in the Dalys Community, Houston County, July 3, 1870, daughter of Thomas Jefferson Keen and Mrs. Caledonia Isabella Beazley Keen. She was the widow of Dr. J. H. Paxton, pioneer physician and surgeon of Anderson County, who died December 9, 1954. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkhart. Death came at 12:05 p.m. Wednesday in a local hospital.

The following grandsons and nephews will serve as active pallbearers: Lewis Paxton of Coffeyville, Kans., Joe Paxton of Elkhart, Oswald Paxton of Seminole, Eddie Paxton of Levelland, and Jess Slaughter, Jr. of Big Spring, grandsons: Eugene Paxton of Beaumont, J. Cullen Paxton of Houston, Jim Bob Paxton of Palestine, Dan Hill and Mike Dailey, both of Grapeland; nephews.

Ih addition to all friends of the family, the following are name honorary pallbearers: Dr. A. L. Hathcock and Dr. Leroy Trice, both of Palestine; Dr. W. O. Funderburk of Elkhart, and Balis Dailey of Grapeland.

Survivors are two sons, Edwin S. Paxton of Tipton Calif. and Thomas K. Paxton of Maracaibo, Venezuela, S. A.; two daughters, Miss Lurlene Paxton of Elkhart and Mrs. Jess Slaughter of Big Spring; a brother, Thomas J. Keen, both of Grapeland; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The body will remain at Hassell & Foster until carried to the church Friday for funeral services.
