Mrs. Flossie Adaline Whittington Bateman, better known as "Memaw," went peacefully to her Heavenly home on Friday, November 18th, 2022 at her residence. She lived a full 97 years of pure love.
A funeral service will be held Monday, November 21st, 2022 with visitation at 11AM and the funeral following at 1PM at Mary Springs Church of God of Prophecy. Officiating the funeral is Bro. Daniel Cook and Rev. Hollis McGehee, and Brown Funereal Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Bateman was born in Amite County, MS on March 16, 1925 to the late Hoyt Whittington and the late Nannie Whittington. She was a faithful member of Mary Springs Church. She was known for operating Bateman's Grocery for many years, where her home cooked meals became a sensation in the Busy Corner community. She was dedicated to her family and remained active through her children, grandsons, and great-grandchildren's lives. She was loved by anyone and everyone who knew her, and her home was always open for a visit.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Moselle Bateman; son, Ronald James Bateman; infant granddaughters, Faith & Hope Bateman; two sisters, Dossie Havard Spillman and Elise Bateman; and many other nieces and nephews.
She is survived by son Darrell Bateman & wife, Angie; grandsons, Darcy Brant Bateman "B-Boy" & Hunter Bateman; great-grandchildren, Bryce & BrookLynn Bateman; siblings, Alverine Coleman, Harvey Whittington, Sarah McNabb, & Gussie Stokes, and many other nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Bill Bateman, Warren Holland, Jason Knight, Adam Sterling, Craig Whittington, and Russ Williams.
