On Friday, July 17, 2020, our beloved mom, Sophia Conway Brown went to be with our Lord and Savior at the age of 99 years young. Mom was born on October 20, 1920 to the late Walter and Martha Harding in Richardsville, VA.

After our father passed away unexpectedly, she became an Avon Rep. for 30+ years. She learned how to drive at the age of 44, as she had three small children to care for. Mom was second to none to many of her children’s friends.

She was a longtime member of Fredericksburg Baptist Church and enjoyed her visits and ice cream cones with Pastor Larry. Mom loved to play games, bingo, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her six children who she cherished and we were very blessed to have her as our mom, Billy Brown (Boddie), Marty Galusha (Jimmy), Melvin Brown (Peggie), Phyllis Stevens (Ronnie), Roger Brown, and Michael Brown; 15 grandchildren; and 20+ great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Brown; and her five grandsons, Timmy, R.J., Kevin, Ronnie, and Matt.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses, CNA’s, activity directors, therapists, and to all who took such great care of our mom at Falls Run Nursing Home. You are all a true blessing to Mom and her family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 23 at Fredericksburg Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
