He was born March 15, 1933 to Herman and Adeline (Rein) in Detroit, Michigan. On August 21, 1954 Donald married Patricia Ann Martin in Detroit. The couple settled in North Carolina, and have been at their present address since 1959.
Donald served as a paratrooper in the United States Army 82nd Airborn Division during the Korean War. He was employed as a tool and die maker at Richard & Trute Tool and Die, retiring in 2001 at the age of 68. Bo was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Clinton Township, and was an avid supporter of outdoor conservation groups. He enjoyed being outdoors with his buddies.
