Ana Signa Duran Cutter, known as Signa, 93, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away after a brief illness on July 12, 2020.

Signa was born in Ibague, Tolima, in Colombia, on January 26, 1927, to Martin Duran and Ana Joaquina Garcia. She enjoyed her early years with her two brothers and three sisters in Ibague and then the family moved to Bogota, Colombia, where she attended high school.

In 1953, at age 26, Signa moved to Miami, Florida, to learn English and attend nursing school. She was graduated from Mount Sinai Hospital in Miami Beach, Florida, on February 21, 1954, as an LPN.

On November 30, 1957, she married the love of her life, Paul S. Cutter Jr., from Hopewell, New Jersey. Signa and Paul lived in Rockaway, New Jersey, where they had a son, David P. Cutter. They later moved to Parsippany, New Jersey, and had a daughter, Anne J. Cutter.

Signa was a homemaker who took care of her two children. She loved to garden, spend time in her apartment in El Rodadero, Colombia, and was an amazing cook.

In 1991, Signa and Paul retired to Palm Coast, Florida. Sadly, she lost her husband in March, 1995, and later moved to St. Augustine, Florida. She lived in St. Augustine for nearly 20 years and continued to travel, garden, and spend time with her family in the U.S. and in Colombia.

She is survived by her son David and his wife Nicola (St. Augustine, Florida); daughter Anne and her partner Nancy (Gainesville, Florida); grandchildren Lucas, Amelia, and Miles; sister Teresa Diez (Bogota, Colombia); brother Marcio Duran (Floridablanca, Santander, Colombia); as well as her many nieces and nephews in Colombia.

In lieu of flowers the family requested donations to The Alzheimer's Association.
