Friends called at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home where final rites were held Monday afternoon, September 14, at two-thirty o'clock. Rev. Earl Dickey, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiated and interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Brooks was a daughter of the late Robert F. and Martha A. Springgate Benson and was born in Jersey County on November 6, 1870. Her age at the time of death was eighty-eight years, ten months and six days. She had been a resident of Jerseyville for forty years. Mrs. Brooks was a member of the First Methodist Church.
Surviving the decedent are three daughters, Mrs. George L. Dugan of Jerseyville, Mrs. W.G. Buhrer of Wichita, Kansas, and Mrs. James Horten of Washington, D.C.; two sons, Lynn B. Brooks of Jerseyville and Arthur M. Brooks of Alton; nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her husband, Fred L. Brooks, and one son, Harold B. Brooks.
