Funeral services for John Franklin Hawkins were held February 4 at 10 a.m. at Oliver Funeral Home chapel, Rev. C. E. Burden officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, with Oliver in charge.
Mr. Hawkins, a resident of Winona, died February 2 at Riddell's Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. He was 87 years old. He was a native of Choctaw County, a retired farmer, and a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Willie Roark Hawkins, Winona; three sons, Garland Hawkins, Winona; E. V. Hawkins, Amite, Louisiana; and Emmit Hawkins, Jackson; three daughters, Mrs. I. T. Campbell, McAdams; Mrs. Melvin Campbell. Jackson, and Mrs. Charles Dickerson, Meridian; 20 grandchildren: 31 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were John Hawkins, Al Campbell, Don Campbell, Bob Campbell, David Dickerson, and Charles Campbell.
