Anthony J. Longo, 84, of Stonehedge Nursing Home, Chittenango, died Sunday. Born in Rome, he attended Rome schools. He had lived in Redfield and Fort Pierce, Fla., before moving to Chittenango. He was a Rome city policeman for more than 39 years and retired as assistant police chief in 1983. He was acting police chief from 1972 to 1973. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Rome, and a former member of Rome Elks and Rome Knights of Columbus. His first wife, the former Iris Jones, died in 1965. Survivors: His wife, Ann; a son, Mark A. of Liverpool; a sister, Angelina Destito of Rome; a brother, Harry of Rome; two grandchildren. Services: 12:15 p.m. today in St. John the Baptist Church, Rome. Burial, St. John's Cemetery, Rome. Prince-Boyd and Hyatt Home for Funerals, Rome, has arrangements.
