Norbert was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Royalty of Louisville, KY, brother Lee Maudlin of Double Springs, AL and grandson Garrett King of Phoenix, AZ.
He was married to the love of his life Phyllis Nicholson Maudlin for over 68 years. They raised their children mostly in Indiana. He is the father of Lygia (Bill) King of Burleson, TX, Risa (Bill) Grimme of Athens, AL, and Sherrill (Mary) Maudlin of Evansville, IN. Norbert and Phyllis were grandparents of 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He served his country in the US Air Force and as a Federal Employee for over 40 years. He enjoyed tinkering in his wood shop making craftsman quality furniture and items for friends and family. He enjoyed time with family, especially his grandchildren, and serving his Lord. He always had a smile on his face, giving him a childhood nickname of Smiley. He was a member and past Elder at Northwest Church of Christ until moving recently to Athens AL.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, with Pastor Curtis Carwile officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until service time on Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home. Published in Courier Press from July 12, to July 13, 2020.
