ANDERSON--John William Hickner, 83, of Anderson, died Aug. 31, 2011 at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born April 19, 1928 in Elwood, the son of John and Rose (Altherr) Hickner.
He graduated from Elwood High School and Ball State University. He retired from Crescent Oil Company and was a member of the Ball State Alumni, Sertoma and Knights of Columbus and St. Mary's Parish.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hickner; children, Mary Ann Ohnheiser, Julia Lacey, Paul Hickner, Jan Hickner, and Mark Hickner; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Church with Father Robert Williams officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home.
