NEWTON - Gaetano "Tuti" Mandile, 96, of Newton, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was the husband of the late Giovanna (Bonica) Mandile.
Born in Filicudi, Italy, son of the late Antonio and Mariana (Bonica) Mandile, he lived for many years in Argentina before coming to the United States, and has resided in Newton since 1965.
Mr. Mandile was employed in the masonry and construction fields for many years. He loved landscaping and enjoyed gardening in his spare time.
He leaves his daughter, Antoinette "Isabel" Domeniconi of Newton; his grandchildren, Jorge Domeniconi and his wife, Joanne (Jonah), of Belmont, Daniel Domeniconi and his wife, Kelly (Kroll), of Swampscott, and Patricia Domeniconi of Newton; five great-grandchildren, Alexander, Marcelo, William, Natalie, and Daniel; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the father-in-law of the late George Domeniconi.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Aug. 24, at 8 a.m., from the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., Waltham, with a Mass of Christian burial in celebration of his life at 9 a.m., at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington St., Newton.
Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waltham.
Visiting hours will be held today, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home. Parking attendants will be on duty.
