Naomi Waggoner was born near Stockton, Cedar county, Missouri, December 25, 1858, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs Etta Tipton, at Lyons, Kansas, September 23, 1925 at the age of 66 years, 8 months and 28 days. She was one of a family of 6 girls and 7 boys, being next to the youngest. Only four of these are now living. She has been a member of the Christian church ever since she was 13 years old, and was anxious for her children to become Christians early in life too. At about the age of 18, she came to Rice county, Kansas. Soon afterwards she was married, February of 1878, to Charles Morris near Frederick. To them were born three children. In 1884, they moved to Linn county, Kansas, where during the two years stay, the husband died, being buried in Franklin county. As soon as she could, Mrs Morris and her little family came back to Rice county, where she has since lived continuously. She has been for many years a member of the Lyons Christian church, taking such part in the work of the church as she was able to do. She is survived by her three children, Mrs Etta Tipton and Arch Morris of Lyons, and Thornt Morris of Omaha, Nebr.; by five grandchildren all of Lyons, James, Louise and Naomi Tipton, and Leon and Waldo Morris; by three brothers and one sister, Jake Waggoner of La Junta, Colo.; Havrve Waggoner, of Lahoma, Okla.; Will Waggoner of Winfield, and Mrs Mary Price of Enid, Okla.; by a large number of nieces and nephews, and many friends, who have learned to love her thru the hardship years of the pioneer, made doubly hard because of her lonely lot of many years.
Funeral services were conducted from the Christian church in Lyons Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Sept 25, 1925, Pastor Charles E Hannan in charge. Interment was in Graceland cemetery.
