Alma Dennis, 86, of Milano the past five years and formerly of Houston from 1941 to 2002, died Monday, April 16, in St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Dr. Richard L. White of Tomball United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mrs. Dennis, a homemaker, was born Oct. 19, 1920 in Milano to Scott and Lillie Alma (Winkler) Davenport.

She married Colgate R. Dennis on Sept. 22, 1941 in the First Baptist Church in Milano.

She was a 1938 graduate of Milano High School where she was the valedictorian. She was also a member of the White Oak Baptist Church in Houston.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, J. D. Davenport and Clarence Davenport, Sr.; sister, Velma Davenport.

Survivors include her husband Colgate R. Dennis of Milano; son, Tommy L. Dennis and wife Terry of Milano; two grandchilden, Terry Scott Dennis of College Station and Tamra Vance and husband Stephen of Milano; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Cody Vance of Milano; sister, Thelma Davenport Williams of Rockdale; host of nieces and nephews.
