EVELYN MOORE, beloved mother, grandmother and friend to many, passed away Aug. 29, 2007, in Lubbock, at the age of 88.
She was born Oct. 28, 1918, in Montague County, to Sunset Boone and Eva (Freeman) Boone. Evelyn attended high school in Munday. She moved to Lubbock in 1937 from East Texas. Evelyn married Fraser Moore on Sept. 28, 1936. They were married for 61 years and Mr. Moore preceded her in death Jan. 16, 1998. Mrs. Moore worked for Hemphill-Wells and was a devoted wife, homemaker and mother.
She was a founding member of Needle Club Bee and a supporter of Lubbock Christian High School. She was given an award for her support to LCHS. Evelyn was very active in her Sunday School Class and served on the funeral committees. She was a member of the Broadway Church of Christ for over 57 years. Having been raised during the depression, she valued everything that she was blessed to have in life. She will be missed by her family, but the valuable lessons she shared will never be forgotten. She adored her family, her friends, and never yielded from her beliefs.
Those left to cherish her memories are one daughter, Sue Ann Busby and husband Bob of Missouri City, Texas; two grandchildren, Belinda Melson and husband Ben of Sugarland, and Susan McKinley and husband Leslie of Katy; five great-grandchildren, Jake and Cole McKinley, and Jack, Katie and Benjamin Melson; one sister, Betty Kimbro of Lubbock; special friends, LeAnna and Kenny Adams; several nieces; and a multitudes of friends of all ages.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Frank Boone; and one sister, Jimmie Crosnoe.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 1, 2007, at the Broadway Church of Christ Chapel in Lubbock, with Joe Burks officiating. Interment will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery.
