Jerry Wilmore Herndon, Sr., age 85, of Martinsburg, WV, formerly of Nokesville, VA, died on July 9, 2020 at Care Haven in Martinsburg, WV.
He was born on August 18, 1934 in Nokesville, VA, son of the late Effie Davis Herndon and Van R. Herndon, Sr. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Elaine Alderman Herndon; his son Mark Herndon; his brothers Robert Herndon, Horace Herndon, Stewart "Doc" Herndon, and Van "Buck" Herndon, Jr.; and his sisters Virginia Kidd, Naomi Richey, and Lorene Thompson.
He is survived by his son Jerry W. Herndon, Jr. and wife Theresa; his daughters Rebecca Vance and husband Jaimie, and Norma J. Moxley and husband Ernie. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Pierce Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA on Monday, July 13, 2020 at 11:00 AM with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas, VA.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimers Association.
