Alan was born on October 25th, 1946, in Youngstown Ohio to Raymond and Doris Husak. He received a degree in International Affairs from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Alan's dream was to become a diplomat and continue the tradition of service to the United States of America, started by his great grandfather. His sense of duty ultimately led him to put those dreams on hold while he served in the Vietnam war. Alan served one tour in Vietnam and completed his service with the rank of First Lieutenant. He was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor, the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republican of Vietnam Campaign Medal, 2 Overseas Service Bars and a special Commemoration from the State of Pennsylvania.
