A. Dale "Doc" Welty, 82, Wakarusa, died 1:04 a.m. Sunday, July 5, at Greenleaf Living Health Campus, Elkhart.
He was born June 9, 1938, in Elkhart County, to Nelson and Elizabeth (Bontrager) Welty.
On April 2, 1960, he married Nora Maxine (Schwartz) Welty.

Dale was a graduate of New Paris High School and Fort Wayne Business College. He was an accountant at Miles Laboratory/Bayer for more than 35 years, retiring in 1998. After retiring, he taught accounting and business classes at Clinton Christian School. Dale attended the Bible Baptist Church, Wakarusa. He was a former member of the Faith Riders Motorcycle group, the 2-cylinder John Deere Club, 4-H Board Member and a volunteer and member of the Wakarusa Historical Society. Dale volunteered at World Missionary Press and graded bible lessons for Gospel Echoes Prison Ministries.

Surviving are his wife, Nora, Wakarusa; three children, Teresa (Darren) Martin Gay, Silver Lake, Denise (John) Hochstetler, Middlebury, and Bradley Welty, Elkhart; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two on the way; and brothers, Rollin (Violeta) Welty, Goshen, and Dean (Janet) Welty, Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Preceding him in death are his parents; a great-grandson, Leland King; and a son-in-law, Randy Martin.
