Jean was a career professional in the insurance and financial services industries in a time when women faced many obstacles in the workplace; but she always held her own, and then some. Jean had a sharp mind and an incredible vocabulary and tackled only the toughest crossword puzzles from the N.Y. Times and the like - and she always did the puzzles confidently in ink. But Jean was really known as a passionate quilter and was known for her beautiful quilts. Every quilt she made was a labor of love, and the quilts were made for many family and friends. Jean never missed an opportunity to visit quilt shops wherever she traveled, and she was always collecting any interesting fabric that she thought could be used to make a great quilt.
Jean is survived by her sons, Elliott Morris and Evan Morris; her brother, Ted Axford; sister, Rita Axford; her grandchildren, Stefanie Morris, Joel Windom Morris, Melanie Morris, Cole Morris and Gabe Morris; and one great-grandson, William Morris.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Betsy Axford Thompson; and her husband, Edwin Morris.
Memorial services will be held at 4p.m. on Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Congregation Kol Ami, 7800 NE 119th St., Vancouver, WA 98662.
