Franklin D. Allen 87, of Columbus, MS passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020, at his residence.
A Visitation will be Friday, July 10, 2020, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home in the chapel. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 with Bro. Dan Louman officiating and Bro. David Westmoreland assisting. Interment will be in Shiloh Cemetery, Vernon AL with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Allen was born September 30, 1932, in Vernon, AL to the late Fannie Myrtle Rector and Myrt F Allen. He was a member of Border Springs Baptist Church. In Mr. Allen's time serving in the United States Navy he served in the Korean War and was extremely patriotic. He was known for his painting service, loved helping his neighbors cutting grass, and had a big heart. Mr. Allen loved to go fishing and was an avid Alabama fan. In addition to his parents, Mr. Allen is preceded in death by his sister- Vadus Johnson and his brothers- Cecil Allen, James Allen, Ed Allen, and Hez Allen.
Mr. Allen is survived by his wife of 65 years- Nancy Jean Swinea Allen of Columbus, MS; daughter- Patti (Chess) Ming of Columbus, MS; son- Mickey (Susan) Allen of Columbus, MS; grandchildren- Kellie Villeneuve, Leslie Newman, Lindsey Villeneuve, Mickey Allen, and Emily Allen; great-grandchildren- Tyler Newman, Drew Newman, Ryan Newman, Madalyn Dinsmore, Stella Kate Allen, Braxton Ward, and Brantley ward; and his sister- Grace Wells.
