She is survived by a son, David E. Baughman, wife Nancy, of Franklin, Indiana; a grandson, Michael Baughman, and wife Sharon of Wisconsin, and two granddaughters, Laura Poorman of Carmel, Indiana and Lisa Beck, and husband Jim, of Whiteland, Indiana. She is also survived by six great grandchildren. Four nephews also survive. She was preceded in passing by two brothers, Paul and Joseph Mathena and two sisters, Mary Hendricks and June Housefield.
She attended the Union and Hopewell grade schools. She was a graduate of Hopewell High School and Franklin College. Ruth was a high school teacher of English, having taught at Nineveh High School, Perry East Junior High and Whiteland High School. She served as Head of the English Department at both Perry East and Whiteland/Clark Pleasant. She served on the Franklin College Alumni Council from 1961 to 1973.
She was a member of Delta Delta Delta. She was also active in the Johnson County Retired Teachers Association where she had served as Recording Secretary and chaired committees. As a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church, she served as Youth Director, Sunday School Teacher, Deaconess and Elder.
Services were entrusted to Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home of Franklin, Indiana.
