Funeral arrangements were incomplete last night. The body is at the home of his son, J. B. Thomas, 757 Hamilton Ave.
A native of Loudon, Tenn., Mr. Thomas was the son of Robert J. and Mary Vassar Thomas. He moved to Athens, Ala., at an early age and later to Birmingham. He returned to Tennessee about 1910 and came to Nashville in 1913.
For many years he was employed as a stationary engineer for the Tennessee Central Railway. He retired in 1934.
In 1891 he was married to the former Miss Elizabeth Jenkins of Nashville, who survives.
Mr. Thomas was a member of the Antioch Methodist church. He was a Mason of the 30th degree, Claiborne lodge, F&AM.
In addition his wife and son, four other sons, and a sister survive. They are, Clarence F. Thomas, of Birmingham, and Clifford, C. B. and Fred Thomas, all of Nashville, and his sister, Mrs. Mary Waddell, is of Birmingham.
