Alexander Scrymsour Johnston Alston (b. Nov 19, 1810, 5th son of his family). Alexander died November 7, 1834 in Poplar Springs, Tipton County, Tennessee (23 y 11 mo). Son of Phillip Alston and Elizabeth W. Johnston (m. 1797)

"On the 8th inst., in Tipton county, Tenn. Dr. Alexander S. J. Alston, in the 24th year of his age, formerly of Hillsborough, North Carolina." - Randolph Recorder, Friday, November 14, 1834

His last will and testament gave guardianship of his children to his unmarried brother.

I Alexander S.J. Alston do this day make my last Will and Testament being in sound mind and memory. In the first place I desire an equal distribution of all my property both real and personal and of every kind, between my affectionate wife and children. I leave my wife and my brother James J. Alston executors to my estate and my brother James J. Alston Guardian to my children. This the second day of November 1834. A.S.J. Alston (his mark).
