Betty Ann Wood Akin, 80, of the Red Hill Community, passed away Friday evening,
July 3, 2020, at the St Mary’s Hospice House in Athens.

Born November 16, 1939 in Banks County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur
Andrew and Icie Buford Chatham Wood. She was the widow of the late James Pruitt
Akin. She taught at Franklin County High School for many years. She was a member of
Allens United Methodist Church.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, James and Kelly Akin, Martin; daughter and
son-in-law, Stephanie and Keith Hall, flowery Branch; grandchildren, Justin & Kelli,
Ansley & Bobby, Alyssa, and Drew; great-grandchild, Sydney; brothers, Kenneth Wood
and Milton Wood of Mauldin, SC, Dan Wood, Martin; sisters, Barbara Taylor, Mauldin
SC, and Rhonda Wheeler, Toccoa.
