Dale Harvey Rice, age 90, of Bentonville, died at home on August 11, 2007. He was born June 3, 1917, in Vaughn, Benton County, AR, to Sidney Lee and Rosannah Maude Piercy Rice. He graduated from Vaughn High School in 1934. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and was stationed at Lowry Field in Denver, CO, where he was a bombsight instructor. On March 17, 1946, he was married to Dorothy Arlene Enewold of Denver. They purchased a farm in Bentonville where he lived until his death. Mr. Rice was a longtime member of Bentonville Presbyterian Church and recently became a member of Vaughn Presbyterian Church. He was active in Farm Bureau, a former member of the Benton County Quorum Court, and a co-founder of the Benton County Republican Party. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Ruby Alline Sims and Hazel Audine Bright; and his brothers, Harold Richmond Rice, William Rex Rice, and Dane Edward Rice, his twin. He is survived by his sons, Darrel A. and wife Jeffrey Taylor Rice of Dallas and Gary D. and wife Denise Rice of Brighton, MI, and by six grandchildren, Ashley Rice Titus and husband Will of Dallas, Justin Rice of Brooklyn, NY, Chandler Rice of Dallas, Corey Rice of Brighton, MI, Casey and wife Emily Rice of Ferndale, MI, and Stephen Rice of Brighton. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 17,2007 at the Vaughn Presbyterian Church in Vaughn, Arkansas, with Pastor Will Fletcher officiating. Pallbearers will be Ashley Rice Titus, Justin Rice, Chandler Rice, Corey Rice, Casey Rice and Stephen Rice. Burial will follow at the Barron Cemetery at Vaughn.
