Donald was born in Palestine, TX to Harvey Martin and Birdie Gertrude Powell Maddox. His parents are buried in Fort Houston Cemetery. After attending Palestine High School, he served in the US Army. He married Lanette Howell.

Donald Douglas Maddox, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle passed away Jan. 20, 2006 at the age of 69 surrounded by family.

He was born on Nov. 26, 1936 in Palestine to Harvey Martin and Birdie Gertrude Maddox.

He attended school in Palestine and served in the army from 1953 to 1956. He worked at Knox Glass Plant in Palestine for thirteen years and later drove an 18-wheeler until his retirement.

Mr. Maddox is survived by his wife Lanette Maddox, daughter Teresa Maddox and three sons: Donald W. Maddox, Douglas Maddox and Kevin Maddox; his grandchildren Melanie and Jennifer Maddox and their mother Janet Moore; brothers David and Richard Maddox; sisters Martha Reed and husband Frank, and Elaine Bessette and husband Jerry as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday evening Jan. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Services will be held Tuesday Jan. 24 at 1 p.m. at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Jay Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Elkhart.

Pallbearers will be Don Huddleston, Van Huddleston, Philmon Huddleston, Mike Gaines, Roger Runnels and Jarrell Powell.

He was much loved and will be sorely missed.
