Pioneer Woman of Rule Dies in Denton

RULE, May 28.--(Spl)--Funeral services were to be held from the First Methodist church here Friday morning for Mrs. W. D. Smith, 83, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. L. Button in Denton early Thursday morning.

The services will be conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Shan M. Hull. Burial will be in the Rule cemetery beside the grave of her husband, who died several years ago.

Mrs. Smith was a pioneer of Rule. She had made her home with her son, Tom Smith, who lives north of this city up until last fall, when she fell an fractured a hip and was taken to Denton to the home her daughter, Mrs. Button.

The body was brought overland in Gauntt's ambulance late Thursday afternoon.

Survivors are two daughters and a son. They are Mrs. Button, Tom Smith, and Mrs. May Fikes of Granger. She is also survived by eight grandchildren. All were expected here to attend the funeral Friday.
