Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church in Morgan for a former Morgan resident, [Eugene] Henry Draeger, 56, of Anchorage, Alaska, who is presumed dead after an Aug. 12 accident on Nislak Lake, although his body has not yet been found. He was on a hunting trip near Aniak, Alaska.
Mr. Draeger was born Jan. 15, 1934 at Morgan, a son of Henry Otto and Viola Voeltz Draeger. He attended Morgan schools and graduated from high school in 1952. He married Elaine Rasmussen July 18, 1959.
In 1971, he retired from the Air Force Postal Service after 20 years. During his military career, he was stationed at Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Hawaii, Germany, India and then Anchorage, Alaska, where he made his home after his retirement.
He was a member of Joy Lutheran Church at Eagle River, Alaska, and served as a board member. He was an avid sportsman and often hunted and fished in Alaskan wilderness.
Survivors include his wife, Penny; her children, Kenneth and Larry Pepin, Cheryl Lees and son, Brian; his mother; a sister, Delores Tweet of Perham; a brother, David of Redwood Falls; children, Michelle McCoy and Kyle Draeger of Anchorage and Cynthia Bowles of Valdez; and granddaughters, Jessica and Justin McCoy. He was preceded in death by his father in 1974.
