Mr. Charles Cover Clipp, 80, of Frederick, died on Monday morning, Feb. 7, 2005, at his residence. He was the husband of Vivian Smith Clipp.
Born in Hagerstown on March 6, 1924, Mr. Clipp was a son of the late Helen Kneisley Clipp.

Serving two separate enlistments with the United States Air Force, Mr. Clipp served in the Pacific during World War II and again in the Korean War from 1950 until 1952, and, for a period, served with his reserve unit.

He had been employed in the sales department at Sangers Inc., of Frederick, and was retired after many years from the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Frederick.

Very active within the Frederick community, Mr. Clipp was a charter member of the Francis Scott Key Lions Club, the Frederick Community Action Agency Food Bank and the American Red Cross and Blood Bank, Frederick County Chapter.

He served as Exulted Ruler of the B.P.O.E. #684, and was the recipient of numerous honors and awards at the Elks.

He was also a member and former executive committee member of the Francis Scott Key Post #11 American Legion, and served on the Veterans Committee.

Over many years, Mr. Clipp was the driving coordinator of organizing transportation for local veterans to and from the Veterans Administration Hospital at Martinsburg, W.Va., for treatments and activities. In honor of Veterans Day, he was instrumental for providing meals, entertainment, bingo, etc., to patients at the V.A. Center, activities which were hosted by the local Legion and Elks members at their facilities.

He was also a devoted member of Calvary United Methodist Church of Frederick, and served as usher for many years.

Surviving in addition to his wife is his stepdaughter, Linda Pruitt Michielli and husband Patrick of Frederick; two grandchildren, Mary Pruitt Martinez and husband Darrell and Julie Pruitt Giese and husband Jason, all of Wisconsin; one great-grandson, Charles Giese; and his sister-in-law, Doris Reel of Hagerstown.

He was preceded in death by a stepson, Charles Bishop Pruitt, and his half-brother, Robert Reel.
