Obituary for Mr. William F. Hollingsworth Sr.
William F. Hollingsworth, Sr. died at Dover, DE on Tuesday, August 28, 2012. He was 86.

Born December 1, 1925 in Centreville, MD he was the son of the late, John B. Hollingsworth, Sr. and Margaret A. Hunter Hollingsworth. He attended Centreville High School, Class of 1942. Following graduation he began working on the family farm with his father. On October 15, 1948 he married the former, Frances M. Thompson and they resided outside Centreville. He drove a school bus for Queen Anne’s County for several years. Then he and his wife opened the Roberts Grocery Store. In 1971 they moved to Church Hill. He owned and operated the Mile Out Inn in Church Hill where he was affectionately known as “Daddy Bill”. Three years after moving to Church Hill, in 1974, he began his own trucking company, Hollingsworth Trucking, hauling for Friel’s and local farmers.

Mr. Hollingsworth is survived by his two sons, William F. Hollingsworth, Jr .and his wife, Dorothy of Church Hill and Gordon L. Hollingsworth and his wife, Sherry of Denton; one brother, John B. “Jack” Hollingsworth, Jr. of Dover, DE; three grandchildren, Tracey Smith, Travis Hollingsworth and Scott Hollingsworth; three great grandchildren, Jason Smith and Christopher Smith and Henry James Hollingsworth and a special friend, E. P. Cronshaw. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Frances Hollingsworth October 18, 2005.

Funeral services will be held at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, Centreville, MD on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 12:00 PM where friends may call from 10:00 am to 12:00.

Burial will be at Church Hill Cemetery, Church Hill, MD.
