Mr. Blossman also served on the St. Tammany Parish School Board for eight years and was a member of the board of directors of First National Bank for 15 years.
Mr. Blossman was born in 1908 in his family's Covington home, on the corner of Monroe Street and 21st Avenue. He attended Lyon High School, where he was elected president of his class in 1929.
As a student at Southeastern Louisiana College -- now SLU -- in Hammond in 1931, Mr. Blossman was captain and first quarterback of the football team. He opened his own business, Blossman Oil Co. , in 1952.
Mr. Blossman was a member of Covington Presbyterian Church, where he was deacon, elder and superintendent of the Sunday school. He also was president of the Covington Rotary Club and commander of the local Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Survivors include two daughters, Laura Lee O'Keefe and Edna Bulloch; a sister, Grace Hollister; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
