Elsie Aletta (Miller) Smith was born July 10, 1919 in Hugoton, Kansas. She was the daughter of Clarence and Nellie (Teghtmeyer) Miller. She passed from this earth to be with the Lord Jesus on June 23, 2020. She was 17 days short of her 101st birthday.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 29, 2020, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Centropolis, Kansas.

Family will meet with friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 28, 2020, at Dengel & Son Mortuary.

Elsie was united in marriage to Alvin Edward Smith on November 10, 1946. They were married for seventy years. He preceded her in death on April 14, 2017.

Survivors include six children; Robert Smith of Pomona, Dona (Harold) Demoret of WaKeeney, Judy (Larry) Michael of Osage City, Aletta (Craig) Purcell of Pomona, Kenneth (Louise) Smith of Ottawa, and Gloria Clift of Conroe, Texas; son-in-law Gary Rice of Overland Park; sister-in-law Fern (Hirt) Miller of Westphalia; sister-in-law Betty (Mohler) Smith of Houston Texas; sister-in-law Martha (Smith) Mohler of Buhler; twenty-three grandchildren; fifty-four great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ava Rice; parents Clarence and Nellie Miller; brother Melvin Miller; sister Evelyn and husband Irvin Hoblit; sister Doris Miller; son-in-law Dale Francisco; and son-in-law Skip Clift.

Elsie accepted Christ as her Savior and trusted him to guide her daily. She taught her family to love and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. She enjoyed cooking and gardening while raising seven children and often welcomed others in her home. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and helping with special meals at her church. Elsie worked with Alvin on their dairy farm in Franklin County for 30 years. They moved to Texas in 1972 to work with the Roloff Ministries in Corpus Christi and Mission. Later she helped raise honeybees. She loved keeping her family and friends supplied with honey. She enjoyed her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and kept a list of their names and birthdates. She reviewed it frequently praying for each family member by name. Her desire was to see others trust and serve the Lord.

She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
