Age 87 of Sister Lakes. Jack's life began on March 17, 1921 in Glouster, Ohio, the son of George and Florence (Skinner) Gingerella. Jack was team member of the United States Rifle Team headed to the Olympic Games in 1940, however due to the war he never got to compete. He was united in marriage to the former Shirley Rathbun on November 28, 1941 in Detroit. Jack served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II from 1943 until 1945. He was employed by the Budd Company in Detroit for 38 years and lived in St. Clair Shores for 30 years. He enjoyed playing baseball and managed several baseball teams. He loved to fish with his daughter and enjoyed bowling. He spent 20 years camping at Oak Shores Campground in Decatur where he made many good friends. Jack attended the Sawyer Christian United Church of Christ. His loving family includes his wife Shirley Wayne of Sister Lakes, his daughter Carole (Dale) Vanderlinden of Sister Lakes and his son Richard (Carol) Wayne of Jerome, MI; four grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Jack passed away at Brentwood Assisted Living in Niles on April 20, 2008. His family will gather for a memorial service for Jack on Tuesday April 29th at 1 p.m. at the Federated Covenant Church in Dowagiac, led by Reverend Beth Ernest. He will be laid to rest in Acacia Cemetery in Beverly Hills, Michigan. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the American Cancer Society. McLauchlin-Clark Funeral Home is serving the family.
