"Mrs. John Sine, 93, died Thursday at the Boroom Nursing Home where she had lived for the past two years. She was born Adaline M. Crawford March 10, 1865, at Norwich, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Piper Crawford. She moved with her family to Marlette, Michigan, when she was a baby and in 1870 they moved to north-central Iowa, making the journey in a covered wagon. They settled near Hampton, where she attended school. She joined the first Methodist Church in Hampton. She taught in rural schools until 1883 when she married John Sine of Waterloo. They made their home at Waterloo where he was employed by the Union Mill Company. She joined the First Baptist Church of Waterloo in 1886 and was an active member 35 years. Later she transferred her membership to the First Baptist Church of Cedar Falls. She was a member of the W.C.T.U. and the Iowa Poetry Society. She is survived by a son, James Ernest, Cedar Falls, a grandchild in California and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, a grandson, and six sisters."
