Leonard was born August 24, 1951 in Stillwater to Leonard and Juanita (Payton) Herron and died Thursday, March 22, 2012. He attended schools in Stillwater graduating from Stillwater High School in 1970. He attended OSU where he graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in Geography in 1975. He went to work in Pratt, Kansas at CGI.
On October 28, 1978, Leonard married Jackie Lang in Great Bend, Kansas and the couple made their home in Muskogee where Leonard worked for EODD. While working in Muskogee, he worked on obtaining his Masters degree in Tahlequah in Business Administration at NEOSU. In 1984, the couple moved to Enid where he worked for NODA. He graduated in 1989 from the University of Oklahoma, Norman Economic Development Institute. He was still employed with NODA at the time of his death.
Leonard was active in the cub scouts, Enid Soccer Club and coaching soccer and baseball. He was an avid OSU Cowboy Fan. He enjoyed wood working, reading and jazz music. Leonard was a courageous man who overcame many health obstacles with dignity and determination. He was a supportive and kind husband, father, brother, and son.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Jackie of the home; three children, Lenny and Payton Herron, of Enid, and Emily Herron, of Weatherford; one sister, Deborah Herron, of Enid as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.
