CAMILLA - Anna Eugenia “Jean” Sizemore Pitts, 89, of Camilla passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Mitchell Convalescent Center after a lengthy illness.

Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 16 at Oakview Cemetery in Camilla.

Born March 31, 1924 in Mitchell County, Mrs. Pitts was the daughter of the late Eddie Martin Sizemore and Jonnie Mae Haire. She was married to the late Marvin Edmond Pitts, Sr. She graduated from Pelham High School in 1942. After her marriage in 1943, Mrs. Pitts was a housewife and a mother. She enjoyed working in the public for over 23 years at the Camilla Theater and the Dunn Drive-In. Mrs. Pitts was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Camilla for over 60 years and taught Sunday School to the children for several decades. Through her community involvement she made many friends and was known to all as “Mama Jean”.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Edrie Vick, Barbara Regent, and Roye Elizabeth McCarty.

Survivors include one son, Marvin Edmond Pitts, Jr. of Camilla; two grandsons, Marvin Edmond Pitts, III (Malarie) and Spencer Lamar Pitts (Hope) of Sanford, N.C.; two great grandchildren, Ansley Kate Pitts and Bentleigh Paige Pitts; two step-great grandchildren, Mia Rutledge and Mark Rutledge; one sister, Myrtle Walls and husband, Clarence, of Newton; one brother, James Sizemore and his wife, Dorothy, of Hogansville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, after services at the graveside.

Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
