Jimmie (who was named Nicky when he was in my care) was my very first foster dog. He was in very bad shape when he came to Animal Friends Connection Humane Society. He was a senior poodle who was blind. He was covered in dirt and fleas.

Jimmy is so special to me. I started fostering to deal with the grief of recently losing my mom. For 3 months this fluff ball made me laugh and smile again. When he was at the dog park he could run straight to us and you’d never know he couldn’t see. He loved to throw stuffed animals in the air and catch them. When we took him in the car with us he’d stand on the center console and look like he was directing where we should go.

Jimmie John was adopted three months after he was rescued. His forever mom named him after the NASCAR racer. Below is what she wrote about him:

“I rescued this senior blind dog 10 years ago during a time of intense loss and grief. He saved me as much as I saved him. Today he went to doggie heaven with all my other rescues. I will never forget you Jimmie.”
