After an illness of almost a year, Mrs. George Hiner died at her home in Stanford on Tuesday morning. The deceased suffered a great deal but was very patient and uncomplaining during her long illness.
Cynthia Ann Hodson was born near Hopedale, Tazewell County, Illinois. She married George Hiner Sept. 28, 1852. To them were born six children, a daughter and five sons. The daughter and four of the sons, with her husband, survive her. The sons, Joseph A., Lemuel E., Albert and George E., reside here. The daughter, Marinda Taylor, lives at Canton, Mo. The family moved from Little Mackinaw to this place in the fall of 1877 and have resided here ever since.
Mrs. Hiner had very sore eyes in 1985 and this resulted in the loss of her sight. In spite of this fact, for thirty-one years she did she did the greater part of the house work and the sewing and knitting. However for the past two years she had been unable to attend to these duties. She was a member of the Christian church for forty years. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon after 2 o'clock at the Christian church, Rev. C.B. Dabney of Mt. Pulaski, officiating. The body was interred in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
