Mrs. John H. Elliott.

At her home, 810 North Evans street, Mrs. John H. Elliott breathed her last at 1:10 pm yesterday. She had been ill for two weeks with influenza, which disease, aided by nervous affection, caused her death. She was born at Millersburg, Bourbon county, Kentucky, June 25, 1829, and was the daughter of Dr. Alvin W. Bills and Mary Nelson Sims. She was married October 16, 1845, to her surviving husband, of North Guilford, Conn. In 1855 she came here to this city and has resided her since that time, with the exception of three years when she lived in the east. Four children survive. They are Emma, the well know stenographer, Florence V., Mabel and Mrs. A. E. Ticknor. The deceased was an earnest Christian, esteemed by all who knew her. She was highly intellectual, possessing a brilliant mind and lived an honored and useful life.

(Communicated) Mrs. Ann E. Elliott died at her home, 810 North Evans street, Saturday, Dec. 9th, as was noted in the Leader of that date. Mrs. Elliott was born June 25th, 1827, in Millersburg, Bourbon county, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Dr. Alvin Wilson Bills and Mary Nelson (Sims) Bills.

She received her early education from private instruction and later in the education institutions of her native state. In 1840 she was united in marriage to John H. Elliott of New Haven county, Connecticut. In 1855 they removed to Illinois and with the exception of a brief period spent in Connecticut they have resided in this city.

Her husband and four daughters, Florence V., Mrs. A.E. Ticknor, Emma and Mabel, survive her.

Mrs Elliott was a woman of rare intellectual attainments and never ceased to add to her store of information and mental accomplishments, and as she advanced in years she continued to take a deep interest in events and affairs. A devoted wife and mother, she has left her family most deeply bereaved.
